What I Think…
WiseGuys is interested in finding out what you think. On any subject that's related to beer, wine and liquor. So take a moment, fill out the little comment card below and tell us what you think. Tell us your favorite craft beer, what food is great with which wine... cocktails you like to shake up when friends drop over. Whatever you think that pops into your head. Why? Because the more we know about what you're thinking the better we can live up to being WiseGuys!

Can you tell me when the next new craft beer comes out from 3 Floyds? I’m always excited to taste the next great product from their brewery.
Thanks!

Have to say that your craft beer selection is pretty darn good

Thanks and we are constantly updating the selection to keep up with the demands.

This week we just got in their version of Oktoberfest, which is called Munsterfest.

I never thought I’d drink a hard cider…until I ran into those three Oliver BeanBlossom hard ciders. First I tried the Peach. The next day I went back and got ‘em all. It may be a tiny bit pricey, but it is definitely worth the price. The great refreshing taste is only outpaced by those wonderful cartoon labels.

I think that your Craft beer selection is the best in Region and enjoy the clean, organized look of your store when I shop! More New Belgium wouldn’t hurt…
Thank you for a great store experience.

Hi Lisa!
I want to thank you for your kind words about the store, and our big selection of craft beers.
Pulling this many great brews together, on a consistent basis, can be a challenge at times.
In one case, one of our very best sellers became so in-demand that the brewer was forced to cut back on the number of states he could distribute to. (Hopefully he’ll be back soon.)
Our solution to this dilemma is to keep hunting for the best craft beers we can get our hands on…
and making sure we keep a serious stock in-house.
As you might suspect this is even more of a problem when brewers make small runs of seasonal beers and we have to scramble to get our fair share of a limited production.
You mentioned more New Belgium. We keep on top of that as much as we can. While
Fat Tireis their flagship amber ale, the folks over in Fort Collins work hard at pleasing craft beer lovers. And that’s made them the third largest craft beer producer in the United States.Your comment ended with “Thank you for a great store experience.” Lisa…it is customers like you who make this a great store.

You asked about gin. I normally buy the 1.75 liter of Seagram’s. Since I normally mix it in grapefruit juice it doesn’t matter that it is not a premium gin and the price is nice. I have tried others and like the Bombay Sapphire if I want a premium gin.
By the way, I do appreciate the tasting you do and have found some good drinks that way.

I think your store totally rocks! The selection of craft beer is exceptional… However I’m not sure that they are all within the “best by” dates. Not that your average fizzy, yellow swill (miller lite) drinking swine would know the difference. But I do!
so can you please make it so I don’t have to double check this anymore?
Oh and about Gin… Ive never actually found one that I actually like so let me know when there’s a tasting of something worth trying.
Thanks!

@Chuck
HI CHUCK!
When I saw your “What I Think” post, I had just come in from cutting the
grass (hopefully for the second to last time this season), and I had just poured me a nice big, cold, Ruby Red Grapefruit juice which was amped up with a good pour of Tito’s Vodka.
So I guess we’re on the same page other than your choice of Seagrams Gin and
my preference for vodka when it comes to mixing with fruity juices. If you’ve noticed, Old Orchard juices have been on sale…which makes this a good time to stock up for the months ahead.
You mentioned Bombay Sapphire. When we go out to a restaurant in this neck
of the woods, they don’t always have my Hendrick’s Gin behind the bar. In
these cases, my back up choice is Bombay Sapphire on the rocks. (No fruit.)
Fortunately, we can always count on WiseGuys to have plenty of Hendrick’s, right there on their shelf.
I’m glad that you’ve appreciated our free tastings. We hope to have the coming
months’ schedule all wrapped by tomorrow. (Watch for it on the website.)
The Bear’s Game is in a couple of hours. It’s either going to be a great reason to
celebrate…or a great need to pour a little forgetfulness. Go Bears! Please?

@Sadie
Hey Sadie!
Thanks for joining the growing number of people who have told us that our store “rocks”. From every thing I’ve seen, we
consistently stock the largest and most interesting selection of craft beers in all of Northwestern Indiana. Achieving that is
not as easy as it sounds. We have to keep searching out new brews that we think our diverse group of customers will
enjoy. And we have to work hard make sure we can bring in enough stock to meet demand. You raised the question of the
possibility of stock getting close to it’s “best by” date. I have to say this probability is rare. We worry a lot more about
product running out of stock. That’s the kind of volume we do here.
Again Sadie…we’re her to satisfy our customers with the biggest selection and the best prices. Feel free to give us a call
about any thing that’s on your mind!

Hi Wise Guys! I like vodka, but unlike a lot of people, I drink it straight with ice, no lemon, or stuffed olives. Over time I’ve felt “you get what you pay for.” However, I think some vodka and vodka prices are “overkill.” Personally, I’ve drifted to buying 1.75 liter bottles of Absolute because they seem to be a good value at most times. At restaurants for special occasions (like it’s Friday) I order Grey Goose, because most good restaurants have it, I have also tried the triple and quadruple fancy vodkas for Iceland and France, including those filtered through some kind of diamonds. I guess “price does matter” two ways… how much you can afford to spend and how “treated” you need to be. I’d like to know your thoughts.

@Thom Hi to you, too!
You noted that the “great refreshing taste is only outpaced by those wonderful cartoon labels.”
Well, one couple we talked to said they find it hard to throw out those nifty aluminum bottles, even through they are 100% recyclable. So… on their kitchen window sill, over the sink, they’ve lined up three Bean Blossom bottles… each with a freshly cut flower from their

Today I have to stop by WiseGuys after work. The free Moscato di Asti tasting is one thing but I’m sitting here figuring how much money I’ll be able to save on the 17% OFF sale on all wines in the store. When you buy six or more…think about it 17% off in your pocket! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deal like this, even when I lived in Chicago…and used to buy by the case
November 4th, 2011 - 10:05
I can’t make the tasting tonight, but you can be sure I’ll be over for this wine sale. I’m planning to pick up a case of everyday wine, and another case of very special wine.
With the holidays coming up…some better wines are the right thing to bring along when you get together with friends.
November 4th, 2011 - 10:13
Is that right? 17% off on all wines in the store? And I only have to buy 6 or more.
I’m going over for six reds and six whites…and maybe a few bottles of bubbly for New Year’s eve. Look at your calendar…it’s not that far off.
November 4th, 2011 - 12:22
@Karen – enjoy the sale – you’ve got it right. Stock up on whites and reds to your hearts content. If you ever need wine suggestion, please don’t hesitate to ask our knowledgeable staff
November 4th, 2011 - 14:23
@Thom, you’re right, today and tomorrow is a great way to stock up on wines for you, you’re friends and neighbors! We have the same 17% OFF sale going on now at both our #wiseguysliquors store – Hobart and Merrillville!
Remember this sale ends at closing time on Saturday 11/4
